In August 2026, Sassnitz on Rügen welcomes SailGP back to Germany, bringing foiling F50 catamarans close to the harbour, beaches and white chalk cliffs of the Baltic coast. For guests planning a high-end sporting weekend, SailGP Germany offers elite racing, summer sea air and private travel possibilities, from jet arrival and yacht viewing to fine dining and a quiet hotel base in Binz.

When Is the ROCKWOOL Germany Sail Grand Prix 2026?

The ROCKWOOL Germany Sail Grand Prix in Sassnitz takes place on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 August 2026. The Race Stadium is on Windpromenade in Sassnitz, with grandstands on the Ostmole. Gates are currently scheduled to open from 13:30 to 18:00, with racing planned between 15:30 and 17:00. The programme is weather dependent, but SailGP currently expects three races per day.

Attending SailGP Germany in Style

SailGP is built around speed, proximity and atmosphere. The boats are 50-foot foiling catamarans, crewed by national teams and designed to lift above the water at high speed.

For AirX guests, the weekend can be planned as a complete private itinerary. Arrive by private jet, continue by chauffeur or helicopter where available, then divide the weekend between grandstand viewing, a private boat and hosted dinners.

Tickets, VIP Packages & Hospitality

Official ticket options currently include Race Stadium Grandstand and Waterfront Grandstand passes. Published standard pricing starts from €88 for a single-day Race Stadium Grandstand ticket and €140 for the weekend. Waterfront Grandstand tickets start from €99 for a single day and €159 for the weekend, excluding ticket platform and card fees.

For on-water viewing, SailGP’s BYOB ticket gives approved vessels access to the Exclusion Zone on the racecourse perimeter. Weekend BYOB flags are currently priced from €599 for boats up to 39ft, €999 for 40ft to 59ft vessels and €1,699 for 60ft to 79ft vessels.

Our advice is to book early. The best suites, chauffeur capacity and suitable vessels on Rügen are limited during the August holiday season.

Arrival & Yacht Transfers

Rostock-Laage Airport is the most practical aviation gateway for many private flights into the region, with general aviation facilities and prior-notification arrangements available outside standard hours. Berlin Brandenburg and Hamburg can also work for longer European itineraries.

AirX can match aircraft to passenger numbers, luggage requirements and preferred cabin style. Smaller groups may prefer a Legacy 600 or Challenger 850, while larger parties can consider AirX VIP airliners. Explore the available AirX jet types before confirming the best aircraft for the route.

Once on Rügen, transfers should be planned around the race schedule. On event days, parts of Sassnitz have restricted vehicle access, and SailGP encourages public transport, Park & Ride, walking and cycling. Private guests should allow time for security checks, bag limits and short walks between drop-off points and the Race Stadium.

The SailGP Experience: What to Expect

SailGP in Sassnitz is fast, close and easy to follow. Large screens and live commentary help spectators track the race, while the racing itself is short, sharp and highly visible from the waterfront. In 2025, ROCKWOOL Racing set a reported 103.93 km/h speed record in Sassnitz, giving the venue a strong claim as one of the sport’s quickest racecourses.

Away from the water, expect harbour energy, food and drink vendors, official merchandise and post-race music until the Race Stadium closes at 18:00. The dress code is relaxed, but pack for sun, wind or rain.

Dining, Social & Networking Opportunities

For private hosts, SailGP Germany works well as a compact social weekend. Lunch can be light and close to the harbour before racing, with dinner reserved for Binz or a private table back at the hotel. Freustil in Binz, a one-star Michelin restaurant, is the strongest choice for a tasting-menu evening, while Fischmarkt suits guests who want local fish, Baltic views and a shorter transfer after racing.

Corporate groups can use the weekend for informal networking. A private aircraft keeps arrival times controlled, while a hosted dinner, yacht-viewing plan and Sunday departure keep the event calm.

Curating Your Sail Grand Prix Germany Experience

Arrive on Friday, settle into Binz, and keep Saturday focused on the first race day. Sunday can be split between a slower morning, Race Stadium hospitality or BYOB viewing, then a late departure from Rostock-Laage or an onward flight to Berlin, Hamburg, London, Paris or the Mediterranean.

For groups travelling with AirX, the value is in the detail: the right aircraft, discreet ground handling, considered catering, luggage capacity and onward transfers that account for local restrictions. The AirX Experience is designed around this kind of private, highly personal travel.

Fly and Sail in Style

With early planning, SailGP Germany becomes a two-day Baltic escape, with private aviation setting the pace from departure to the final glass after racing.
